| Summary: | In recent decades, with the increasing spread of the logic of corporate social responsibility (CSR), the managerial sphere has been mobilized around the cause of sustainable development. Like most other sectors of the economy, the tourism sector has itself included responsible aims among its priorities. The objective of this research is to assess the degree of convergence between social and ecological aims in the practice of hotel businesses. In order to examine this issue empirically, the present article focuses on the cases of three urban hotels whose concrete social and environmental achievements have been assessed. The results show that in the hotels studied, there is a dichotomy between the ecological and environmental dimensions, with the establishments favouring the ecological aspect for its economic and commercial benefits. The extent to which all dimensions of sustainable development are integrated seems to be highly dependent on management's adherence to this logic.
