Summary:The article strives to analyse the restoration of the Society of Jesus by the Burgos Government in 1938. It also provides a close look at both the process and circumstances of the event, as well as the opinions of many of the people involved. The process took place after the first half of the Spanish Civil War, right at the time when the «new state» was being formed, which explains the many difficulties Rodezno’s decree faced when it was presented to the Council of Ministers.
