| Summary: | The study examines the spatial characteristics of ambulance stations in Hungary. After 1948, the location of these stations changed mainly during the 1950s and 1960s, particularly in settlements with a population of over 10,000. Initially, due to historical reasons, fire stations influenced their placement, while later, the attraction of healthcare centers became the dominant factor. A key feature of the current distribution of ambulance stations is that their relative distance from the town center is greatest in settlements with smaller populations, smaller built-up areas, and higher elevations. Additionally, the influence of hospitals is more pronounced in smaller settlements, and ambulance stations are often located near main roads, which is also characteristic of smaller towns. |
