MINORITĂŢILE ETNICE ÎN REPUBLICA MOLDOVA: DIALOGUL INTERCULTURAL ÎNTRE TINERI

The ethnic composition of the population of Republic of Moldova (population of the Republic of Moldova except the region from the left side of Dniester (Transnistria) registered at the census in 2004, reveals that the Moldovan people, the majority nationality, represent 75.8% of the total number of population, Ukrainians – 8.4%, Russians – 5.9%, Gagauzians – 4.4%, Romanians – 2.2%, Bulgarians – 1.9% and other nationalities – 1.0%. This article focuses on problems related to the intercultural dialogue among young people from Moldova, by analyzing the extent the coinhabiting nationalities know about each other, the relationship between the Moldovan people and other ethnic groups, impressions and attitudes towards basic characteristics of ethnicities from the Moldovan society. This article relies on the data of a sociological research carried out among young people from Republic of Moldova in November-December 2009. The study included quantitative methods – the sociological survey based on a questionnaire, conducted on a representative sample of 802 young people and also qualitative methods – individual in-depth interview with 20 young people of different ethnic groups – Moldovan, Ukrainian, Russian, Gagauzian, Bulgarian, Romany etc.
