| Summary: | This research high political cost triggering political bondage in regional head elections in East Kalimantan in 2018. This research was motivated by high political costs that resulted in candidates taking part in the regional head election in East Kalimantan as a region rich in natural resources forcing candidates to form partnerships with businessmen to become donors of political funds. Natural resources as the basis for the struggle between political and economic elites to fight to power for realize their interests. The purposeof the study is to analyze the high political costs as a trigger for political bondage in regional head elections in East Kalimantan in 2018.Through the desk method, this study utilizes secondary data as a source literature. The results of the research show the form of political bondage in regional head elections in East Kalimantan in 2018 is in the form of issuing mining business permits for 1.404 IUPS until 2020.Of the 1.404 IUPS, 428 IUPs have not been C&C certified and 160 mining points are illegal.
