description Damietta Promontory in the Nile Delta experienced great changes and reformation in the last few years as it is a promised area for the socio-economic development under the umbrella of the Egyptian sustainable development strategy 2030. This study aims to monitor shoreline changes and anthropogenic intervention from 2000 to 2015 to address impact(s) of the coastal erosion on the future economic development and land management. Monitoring shoreline changes was carried out using SCAP model (Shoreline Changes And Prediction) developed by the author to compute shoreline changes. Land cover changes were also analyzed using supervised classification based on Landsat satellite images.Rates of erosion obtained from the model differ from 12.17 to and −5.56 m/yr generally. The study also revealed the significant land accretion towards the sea due to means of shore protection, sand feeding and the rapid urbanization on agricultural, reclaimed and vacant lands. The overall accuracies of images’ classification ranged between 85 and 95 indicating high credibility of the classification process.
