Description
Summary:After each crisis (violence, cheating) that shakes the national education sector in Algeria, the topic of school sanctions returns to the fore of the educational scene. Despite the taboo nature of the topic among the majority of teachers, some admit to using sanctions in their practice and particularly when they relate to the climate of and discipline in the classroom, to the despair of the inspectors of devolved and central authorities, who reprove it. Yet there is no consensus among actors, caught between overly generic regulatory texts and an increasingly uncontrollable reality. It is therefore between the personal logics of some – students and their parents – and the clumsy explanations of others – teachers and administrative staff – that the debate turns, and there lies its victim: the educational institution in search of compromise.
