Summary:This   paper   presents   the   involvement   of   Knowledge   Management   in   Process   Improvement   when   applying   Mexican   Standards   for   software   process  implementation  (NMX-I-059-NYCE-2011)  and  process  capability  assessment  (NMX-I-15504-NYCE-2010).  We  discuss  and  characterize  the  types  of  knowledge  found  in  a  software  development  company.  From  this  characterization, we distinguish the first two levels of knowledge involved in a software process improvement project based on knowledge.
