الملخص:After a presentation of the consonantal system of the La Forêt Fouesnant speech and a discussion of the choices made, the author illustrates how speakers adapt to the contexts of neutralization, when communicative needs seem to contradict the limitation of the distinctive possibilities of the system that neutralization implies. It then discusses the link between neutralization and certain facts of assimilation in the chain. What is called external sandhi presupposes the existence of contexts of neutralization. The hypothesis is that these are cases where the constraints of the spoken chain can play with a great deal of freedom, without threatening the useful phonological oppositions, which probably compensates - from the point of view of the general economy of the system - for the decrease in the functional yield of phonological oppositions induced by neutralization.
