Description
Summary:This paper aims to examine and interrogate the insistence of the notation in the work of Roland Barthes. This notion has been theorized by the author both in the initial moments of his production (“Introduction to the analysis of the descriptive”, “The effect of reality”) and in his last critical works (The preparation of the novel). Close to others such as ‘description’, ‘detail’, ‘catalysis’ –central in the structural analysis–, the idea of notation explores the way of capturing, through writing, the objects, situations and details of the world of the real. We will try mainly to glimpse the differences between Barthes’ approach to the word in that earlier area of his production, and the way in which he defines and thinks notation in the section “Daily practice of notation” included in The preparation of the novel –the moment when the barthesian writing has already taken the form of the idea, the fragment, and where the reflection over the own practice of writing prevails.
