Summary:This article discusses the creative process of the theatre group Usina do Trabalho do Ator – UTA – from the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It presents an overview of some spectacles of the group since its creation, questioning the notion of actor/author, and staging as narrative. It also discusses the limits between reality and fiction in the spectacles of UTA. The analysis is basically guided by Walter Benjamin’s writings on experience, narration and tradition. It also deals with the concepts of artistic creation from French essayist Paul Valéry.
