| Summary: | Objective: To identify the information needs of managers of departments of departments of Tehran University of Social Sciences and Behavioral Sciences and Tarbiat Modares University. Method: This study is a descriptive survey. The head of departments of the faculties of the committees of social and behavioral sciences of Tehran University and Tarbiat Modarres University were selected by census sampling. Data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire which was distributed among the statistical sample after confirming its validity and reliability. Descriptive and inferential statistics including Wilcoxon test were used for data analysis. Results: The most important motivation and purpose of information needs of educational department managers of Tehran University of Social and Behavioral Sciences Commission and Tarbiat Modarres University are in educational, scientific and research needs, respectively, and information about procedures and how to perform. In addition, the most important resources in meeting the intra-university information needs of educational managers are personal experience, meetings and meetings with other colleagues, and the most important resources in meeting the extracurricular information needs of educational managers in both Internet universities and databases. Satisfaction with information sources, both electronic and print, is approximately 65.Originality of work: To date, information needs of managers of training departments in the field of information management have not been evaluated.
