ABSTRACT
The article reviews foreign literature on subject of combined libraries. Libraries can integrate at different levels. Definitions of the term combined library are summarized. Societal context influences integration, and a mission of combined libraries needs special consideration. Author examines strengths and weaknesses of combined libraries and identifies factors of succesful operation. Critical steps in integration process are considered, and evaluation model is suggested.
