The article discusses the current state of the system of compulsory insurance in the Russian Federation. The role of compulsory insurance in the Russian Federation as a system that ensures reduction of stress load on the state budget. A large share of compulsory insurance segment in Russia takes two types - a compulsory health insurance, and MTPL insurance, as these types of insurance are by weight. In general, the share of premiums for compulsory insurance for the constantly growing market, which indicates extensive way of development of the insurance market in the Russian Federation. Analyze the statistics in terms of compulsory insurance premiums and fees, the main problems and ways of solving them in the economic crisis. Revealed the problem of increasing loss of compulsory and voluntary insurance. The necessity of increasing the control of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for the financial situation of insurers and to propose measures to improve it.
