Description
Summary:This study provides an analytical overview of the discoveries made in 1959 and 1960 at Serbonnes La Créole (Yonne). It offers a typological and chronological classification by functional category of all the discovered objects, through which we can suggest a change in the use of this cemetery between the second quarter of the 5th century BCE (early La Tène A) and the 3rd BCE (La Tène C1). The investigation of funerary practices was also done through systematic analysis of the existing rare data. This article shows the value of looking in depth, and in the light of current knowledge, at a remarkable funerary complex that had not hitherto been subject to such an exhaustive investigation. The result is a better understanding of the occupation of a territory and of the ancient societies – in this instance, the Senon societies – who succeeded each other during the Second Iron Age.
