The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of comprehensive religious psychotherapy on strengthening the interpersonal relationship between high school students and their parents. The research method is semi-experimental with pre-test and post-test design and control group. The statistical population of this research consisted of all second grade high school female students in Tehran city in the academic year of 1396-97. From the target population at first, with screening tests 100 students were randomly selected and among those with the highest difficulty, 24 were randomly selected and divided into two groups of 12 (experimental and control). The experimental group was trained for 8 sessions based on comprehensive religious-based psychotherapy protocol. Data from pre-test and post-test were obtained using the SCL90 test (Derogatis and et al., 1973) and the RFCP test (Richie and Fitz Patrick, 1990). The findings showed that comprehensive religious education is effective in enhancing interpersonal communication between parents and their adolescent girls (P= 0.001). Considering the lack of treatment considerations- teaching religious therapies in relation to adolescents by many therapists, this study points to the need for comprehensive psychotherapy education.
