| Summary: | This article analyzes how records management was addressed in articles published in the first twenty-first years of The American Archivist. The journal, edited by the Society of American Archivists, was created in the same period of records management appearance, and has published reflections by National Archives staff on issues and challenges related to the management of public records. Thus, this article aims to understand, from the method of content analysis, how records management was portrayed by the articles published in The American Archivist, in the period 1938-1959, from the first texts published in this journal, which had its first publication in 1938. In addition to the content analysis, a contextual analysis of this publication is proposed, as well as a brief discussion about its contents categorized according to the method used, in the light of the articles selected for this research. |
