Summary: | Osteoarthritis is associated with the presence of pain and activity limitation which makes it one of
the major causes of disability. Therefore, this disease became not only an important challenge in
healthcare, but also a major public health and socio-economic problem.
Due to the aging of the population and due to the prevalent increase of the excess weight, a
dramatic increase in the prevalence of osteoarthritis is to be expected, respectively of pain and
activity limitation specific to this certain pathology.
Although the values obtained at the end of the study may not differ greatly between the subjects
of the two groups taken as a whole, according to the research and the results obtained, we can
state that the hypothesis is confirmed.
Given that the osteoarthritis affects the knee joint more than the other supporting joints of the
body, in the case of osteoarthritis patients the secondary prophylaxis of the knee joint becomes of
great importance, namely the proper learning and compliance of the knee joint protection
guidelines, which may help to slow down or even reverse the evolution of the degenerative
process.
