L-band Raman lasing in chalcogenide glass microresonator started by thermal mode pulling with auxiliary red diode laser
Chalcogenide glass microresonators (MRs) with whispering gallery modes (WGMs) having a huge third-order nonlinearity are an attractive platform for producing miniature photonic devices, such as Raman lasers in the near- and mid-IR range. However, the excitation of a proper WGM, leading to the start...

Here we propose and demonstrate a simple and cheap way to start a single-mode Raman laser in a chalcogenide glass MR pumped by a standard telecom CW laser at a constant wavelength using a red laser diode for the thermal control of WGMs leading to mode pulling.
