Description
Summary:Objectives: In the present paper, the main purpose is to verify the prevalence of skin lesions in patients treated by the HCP in Santos (São Paulo State, Brazil), in 2009. Method: A prevalence of lesions in 37.8% of the patients admitted, who were predominantly female and aged over 65 years, was found. Results: The pressure and vasculogenic ulcers, amputations, diabetic foot, erysipelas, among others can be emphasized. The average permanence time under observation resulted in 90 days. Conclusions: It was concluded that the injuries still affect a big part of the attended population and deserve special attention. More studies are necessary to evaluate, in an individual manner, the actions relevant to this group, in order to prevent and recover the injuries; thus, contributing to the maintenance of the general health state.
