Description
Summary:In this study, the selectivity of kirbed steel hooks no 6, 8, 10, 12 used for catching subtropical and lessepsian species the Marbled spinefoot (Siganus rivulatus Forsskål, 1775) in Gulf of Antalya, Kumluca, Finike, Demre and Kemer was calculated by using SELECT method. The total number of Marbled spinefoot caught in 16 operations was 406 individuals. According to log normal modal, the optimum catch lengths of 6, 8, 10, 12 numbers hooks were 20.79 cm, 17.67 cm, 14.91 cm, 12.60 cm and spread value for these hooks were 13.65 cm, 11.60 cm, 9.79 cm and 8.28 cm respectively. Considering the first reproductive length in Marbled spinefoot catching, the use of larger than number 6 size hooks may be recommended.
