INTERACTION IN DISASTER NEWS IN SOCIAL MEDIA; EXAMPLE OF İZMİR EARTHQUAKE

The news in the media differ according to their types and contents over various concepts and ways of processing. This difference has caused a constant change both with the effect of technological developments and the expectations of the reader. Disaster reporting, which is an important field in the journalism profession, is one of the professions affected by this change. Disaster reporting, which renews many features by using the features of new media with its own internal dynamics; It resulted in important developments for both reporters and readers. While the problem of the study is to reveal the point reached through the journalism practices experienced as a result of these changes, the effort to reveal the effect of new media and especially social media platforms on this change in detail. In this study, the definition of disaster journalism has been examined in depth through an in-depth literature review and application example, which explains the definition of disaster journalism in the context of the point it has come from, by being influenced by the traditional and new media environment. In the research, using the descriptive content analysis method, the way disaster journalism takes place on social media platforms was examined through both news and user posts, and the interaction function of the new media was examined and described with examples through the event of the "Izmir Earthquake" in 2020.
