Description
Summary:Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are the most important factors in reducing the complications of Legionnaires’ disease and preventing the death. In this report, a 56-year-old male patient is presented to our hospital with high fever, dyspnea, and difficulty in walking with Gaucher disease, diabates mellitus, chronic liver diseaseand was diagnosed as Legionnaires’ disease. The main diagnostic method was the urinary antigen detection. The patient was successfully treated with levofloxacine and clarithromycin which was started on admission day. The patient lived in an apartment and used water storage tanks heated by solar energy. The hot water samples from the bathroom and the storage tanks were positive for L. pneumophila serogrup 1. These findings in the patient emphasizes the importance of considering that the domestic water systems heated by solar energy should be searched as a source of this infection. To the best of our knowledge, the patient was the first case of Legionnaires’ disease associated with Gaucher disease.
