Cuba.Introduction: nowadays Angolan society highlights the wide access to education to train a qualified workforce capable of responding to new scenarios. At Katyavala Bwila University of Benguela in Angola, the scientific organization of the independent work of medical students is a difficulty that affects the teaching and learning process. Objective: to design a methodological strategy based on the theoretical conceptions of the teaching task for the development of independent work in the basic biomedical sciences. Methods: observational-descriptive study considering the bases of the syllabus and the need to train doctors capable of acting in their environment at Katyavala Bwila University of Benguela in the academic year 2018, teaching tasks were elaborated for the development of independent work of medical students in the subjects of Embryology-I and Physiology-I. Results: the teaching tasks motivated students in the information search by different ways that allowed them to identify health problems in their environment, thus achieving greater cognitive independence and motivation in learning the basic biomedical sciences, improving their professional way of acting. Conclusions: the independent work from a system of tasks in the subjects of Embryology-I and Physiology-I, brings about changes in the habits of self-preparation for medical students at Katyavala Bwila University of Benguela, Angola. It promotes the academic performance and the development of their creativity towards the transformation of the objective reality of their environment.http://www.revcmpinar.sld.cu/index.php/publicaciones/article/view/3820ciencias de la saludmedicina integralparticipación de la comunidadaprendizajeenseñanza.
