Summary:The article a month by month survey of the diagnoses made in the general outpatient department of Patan Hospital in Lalitpur District. The survey began in Poush 2043 and ended in Mangsir 2044. A total of 79,404 diagnoses were made over the tweleve month period by the Doctor's Assistants, The greatest number of disgnoses were in the category of infectious disease (49%), followed by the category of preventive/ family planning (18%). within the category of infectious disease, the leading system involvement was gastro-intestinal (40%), followed by respiratory (34%) and skin (13%). Seasonal fluctuations were found for the diarrhoeal disease (peak incidence Jestha-Shrawan), acute respiratory infections (two peaks: one in Chaitra-Baishak, the other in Bhadra-Asoj), and skin infections (peak in Shrawan-Asoj). The hepatitis epidemic in Kathmandu Valley was also documented, with a peak in Bhadra. Enteric Fever was found to peak in Asoj.
