Summary:In the article about constitutionalism, historism and postmodernism author relates to some of the questions which are connecting constitutional law and history of the state and law. In doing so, special attention is paid to the position and role of the preamble of the constitution. Specifically, the preamble as a sort of intersection of politics and law often contains a lot of historical references that can not be put aside in real time reading and interpreting the integral document. Preamble in fact often reveals real '' history behind the adoption of the constitution and the central principles and values of a nation''. In the comparative constitutional law can be best seen when interpreting Historical foundations of the Croatian Constitution.
