While independent films attempt to retain their economic status against Hollywood thanks to the provided budgets such as government subsidies, grants, and festival awards, they claim to have become the object of a cultural hegemony when they had to adapt to the criteria of such aforementioned Western alternative sources. In Turkey, in order to strengthen the national cinema, even it is subject to several criticisms throughout time, the law entitled “Law on the Evaluation and Classification of Movies and About Their Incentives” with no 5224 which has been effective since 2004 and have been supporting the film production industry since then, many films’ production has been made possible in this way. In this study, examinations are performed on the data of the incentives provided to the cinema in the 15 years corresponding to the period since Law No. 5224 has been operational.
