Summary:The aim of the article is to study the principles of creating an action script on a documentary basis, to identify the main stages of material collecting, its literary fixation, and stage representation. Research methodology of the study is to apply an interdisciplinary approach involving structural and functional, axiological and semiotic methods. Results. The stages of selection of documentary material for the scenario of mass action have been distinguished: 1) thematic focus of the whole action; 2) division of material by types (photos, interviews, video and audio, documents, articles from newspapers and magazines, correspondence, etc.); 3) adaptation of the material to the performance episodes. It is found that the literary fixation of the scenario was realized through storytelling, direct speech, dialogue and the author notes. It is emphasized that the presentation of documentary material on the stage depends on the theme and idea, as well as the tasks that form the artistic plan of performance. Novelty. The stages of construction and implementation of the scenario on a documentary basis have been presented and analyzed as exemplified by the presentation of the biobibliographic index. The practical significance. The study materials can be used at the lectures on screenwriting, stage directing of mass events, as well as applied in practical studies during the creation and implementation of events.
