Results. The author of this study analyzes in detail the most important publications and sources of information currently available regarding the issues of diversification of the views of the old intelligentsia in relation to various authorities, mainly the Soviet government, during the Ukrainian revolution of 1917–1921. Special attention is paid to the analysis of publications and sources of information dealing with the relations between the intelligentsia and the Soviet regime. This is explained mainly by the fact that it was the Bolshevik regime that had gained the dominant position in Ukraine by that time and imposed their concept and ideology on the intelligentsia. This regime also ensured that the archives stored the material of only the Soviet “origin”. Novelty. Drawing on the culturological methodology the author has managed to analyze in detail the works and sources of information dealing with diversification of the views of the representatives of the old intelligentsia regarding their attitude to various authorities. Taking into account the above mentioned considerations, special attention was paid to identifying the relations of the old intelligentsia with the Bolshevik government during the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921. The practical significance. The results of this study may be used for further research into the related issues as well as in the process of developing educational and methodological material in culturology, in particular history and theory of culture and as well as history and theory of Ukrainian culture.
