Summary: | 7YSZ coating was manufactured by combustion flame spray process of 7YSZ powders on MCrAlY substrate. Set parameters of combustion flame spray were used to build up an YSZ coating. Coating thickness in the range of 40–50 μm was obtained having microstructure of lamellar-splat morphology. Afterward, hot corrosion tests of the 7YSZ coating were performed in molten salts at 1050°C. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis was used to identify changes in the microstructure of the 7YSZ coating. It was identified as the main failure mechanism developed during spallation of YSZ coating. |
