Description
Summary:The paper presents the results of the analysis of relationship between genetic distance and geographical distance in different broomrape populations (Orobanche cumana) - a rhizopathogen specific for sunflower that essentially affects the production of this important oil crop. Thirty-nine broomrape populations collected from different regions of the Republic of Moldova and belonging to different races (≤ E, F, G and H) have been included in the study. Correlative analysis of the data with reference to the genetic distance calculated based on the results of fingerprinting with SSR (Simple Sequence Repeats) and ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeats) markers and to the geographical distance suggested that no correlation exists between these two parameters. The matrix of genetic distances was used as input for a principal coordinate analysis (PCoA). The PCoA revealed a more clear grouping of populations from the same region in the case of ISSR analysis, the main part of populations from central and southern part of the country being grouped into two clusters, regardless of their race.
