Description
Summary:We present a design of programmable terahertz (THz) metamaterial (PTM) with multiple logic characteristics. The proposed PTM device is composed of a cut-wire resonator (CWR) sandwiched two face-to-face split-ring resonators (SRRs). By moving CWR along z-axis direction to change vertical distance between CWR and substrate, the programmable coding digits could be switched from four digits to five digits by alternating the polarization of incident THz wave. The electromagnetic responses of PTM device are stable in TE mode and can be tuned by moving vertical distance of CWR in TM mode. These results indicate the potential possibilities of PTM to be used as a stable polarization switch and an effective programmable metamaterial in the THz frequency range.
