ARCHETYPICAL IMAGE OF THE WORLD TREE IN THE ART WORLD OF HRYGORII CHUBAI

The article examines the peculiarities of the functioning of the archetype of the world tree in the poetic heritage of Hryhorii Chubai. The authors of the article characterize the stylistic features of the artist’s poetry in the relationship with Ukrainian and world literature, as well as in the context of the writer’s biography. They emphasize such characteristic features of poetic creativity of personality as: through imagery, artistic aesthetic speech, active use of tropes and figures, introduction of author’s neologisms, the presence of specifically sensory vocabulary for expressiveness of the text and facilitate its perception. An analysis of Hryhorii Chubai’s creative legacy has made it possible to distinguish two figurative and stylistic keys: the artist’s early lyricism, which was open, sincere, confessional, and the late one, formed under the influence of persecution, ban on publishing and being in alternative cultural discourse. In late lyric poetry the poet resorted to the language of symbols, allusions, abstract images, introduces into his poetry elements of journalism, newspaper vocabulary or stationery stamps. Lilik O.O., Sazonova O.V. have claimed that Hryhorii Chubai belongs to the poets-myth-makers, whose works are rooted in national folklore and mythology. The authors substantiate that the means of representation of the author’s worldview concept are archetypes encoded in the images, symbols and motifs of literary texts. An analysis of Hryhorii Chubai’s poems has led to the conclusion that the artistic image of a tree in the artist’s poetry is an archetypal symbol of unity and eternity and manifests itself in different meanings: the world-creating tree, the temporal tree. and a genus tree that condenses the previous two values. The authors of the article claim that the creators of life on the world tree are birds. Based on the study of poetic texts by Hryhorii Chubai, which mention birds, they conclude that, in addition to the image of a bird in general, the artist often refers to the images of cuckoos, nightingales, storks, magpies, pigeons. These images have a bright expressive color, they are based on observations, mythical ideas, word play. At the same time, the analysis has confirmed that in these poems the images of birds in their symbolic expression sometimes acquire an uncharacteristic interpretation of the bird for Ukrainian folklore. Because the bird has traditionally been considered a symbol of the human soul, a mediator between heaven and man. Ukrainians especially loved migratory birds, which were considered harbingers of spring, livestock, harvest, goodness, health and happiness.
