| Summary: | In these comments the author makes an assessment of the judgment of Criminal Court No. 3 of Pontevedra, in which imprisonment is imposed for the first time on two brothers, owners of a herd of horses grazing in a state of semi-liberty, for the commission of the crime of mistreatment of animals, provided for in Article 337 of the Criminal Code, regarding the brothers’ placement of traps that limit their movements and which cause serious injury and strain, and contribute to their helplessness. For this reason, the author highlights the factual and social process that leads to the judgment, the animal issue to which it corresponds, and performs a review of the behavior by the public civil service regarding the protection of animals, while emphasizing the commendable work of the public prosecution in this matter.
