Eletroferótipos de rotavírus em crianças com e sem quadros de gastroenterite Electropherotypes of rotavirus in children with and without gastroenteritis

Com o objetivo de definir os tipos eletroféróticos de rotavírus identificados em material fecal de crianças com e sem quadros de gastroenterite, foram analisadas mil amostras de fezes, obtidas de dois grupos infantis, na faixa etária de 0 a 12 meses, sendo 500 amostras denominadas de "Caso" e 500 identificadas como "Controle", estas últimas obtidas de crianças sem quadros diarréicos. Encontrou-se positividade de 14,8% no primeiro grupo, com 5 eletroferótipos curtos e 11 eletroferótipos longos e, no segundo grupo, 0,8% somente com 3 eletroferótipos longos.<br>It was defined the electropherotypes of rotavirus indentified in stools of a groups (named "case") of 500 children with diarrhea, ranging in age from 0 to 12 months. A group (named "control") of 500 children of the same age group, without diarrhea or respiratory infections, were evaluated. Humam rotavirus was detected in 14.8% of the children with diarrhea. Of the positive samples 5 had the "short" and 11 the "long" electropherotype. In the control group rotavirus was detected in 0.8% of children and all the three positive samples had "long" electropherotype.
