Description
Summary:The article features the results of the research that considers qualitative characteristics of thinking as a cognitive mental process.  The research group included young people and adolescents. The  study focused on the dependence of conceptual thinking on its  flexibility and fluency in verbal and figurative form. The leading  methods involved I. M. Luichiny’s Methodology Study of the Activity  of Thinking" (MSAT) and Diagnostics of the Development Level of  Logical-Conceptual Thinking test. Indicators of conceptual thinking  have a significant positive correlation with the parameters of  figurative fluency of thinking and negative relationship with the  parameters of verbal flexibility of thinking. The effectiveness of  conceptual thinking is provided by the following indicators of thinking activity: a high level of figurative fluency allows one to use the entire scope of familiar visual or kinesthetic images to solve standard  problems, and a low level of verbal flexibility promotes high  dynamics of the process, using its own actual repertoire of concepts, thereby saving time in search of new terminological strategies.
