Summary:<p>Malaria is reemerging diseases and cause of an outbreak in Kebumen Regency. Knowledge and<br />behavior of the community are important factor in supporting vector borne disease control such<br />as malaria. Research design used cross sectional with 269 respondents in Wagirpandan village,<br />Rowokele sub district of Kebumen Regency, Central Java Province. Aim of this study are to gain<br />describe social and cultural aspect that reflected on knowledge, perception and practice of<br />community using quantitative approach. Result of this research for basic escort of intervention to<br />community about control malaria diseases. Knowledge. The majority of respondent (20,1%)<br />have low knowledge of vector malaria. Most of respondent (54,3%) have negative perception of<br />malaria. Low understanding and acceptance of the causal link between the mosquito and malaria,<br />likely leading to poor comprehension of preventive activities, as well as confusion of malaria<br />with dengue fever, were identified. In conclusion, this study highlights a low understanding<br />about malaria diseases, leading to poor comprehension of preventive activities, as well as<br />confusion of malaria with dengue fever . If case management continues to be the main strategy in<br />malaria control program, the emic perspective of the people must be well-integrated into the<br />program.<br />Key words : Malaria, Knowledge, Practice</p><p> </p><p>Malaria merupakan penyakit yang muncul kcmbali dan menimbulkan kejadian luar biasa di<br />Kabupaten Jawa Tengah. Pcngctahuan masyarakat dan perilaku merupakan faktor penting<br />dalam rangka menunjang program pengendalian penyakit bersumber binatang seperti malaria.<br />Tujuan penelitian mendeskripsikan pcngctahuan, sikap, dan perilaku masyarakat yang berisiko<br />pada kejadian luar biasa malaria. Design penelitian adalah studi potong lintang dengan 269<br />responden di Desa Wagirpandan, Kecamatan Rowokele, Kabupaten kebumen, Jawa Tengah.<br />Metodc kuantitatif digunakan untuk menggali aspek sosial dan budaya yang terwujud dalam<br />pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku masyarakat mengenai malaria. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan<br />bahwa scbagian besar responden (20,1%) tidak mengetahuai vektor malaria. Mayoritas<br />responden (54,3%) mempunyai pcrscpsi negative terhadap pengendalian malaria. Pemahaman<br />yang rendah mengenai penular malaria adalah nyamuk, bcrakibat rendahnya tindakan preventif<br />yang dilakukan, salah satunya muncul masyarakat tidak bisa membedakan gejala dan nyamuk<br />penular malaria dengan demam berdarah dengue. Kesimpulan rendahnya pengetahuan<br />masyarakat mengenai penyakit malaria, munculnya mispersepsi antara penyebab malaria dan demam berdarah yang berakibat pada tindakan pcnccgahan yang dilakukan. Pengetahuan lokal<br />mengenai malaria, sebaiknya digunakan sebagai acuan pemegang program saat membuat model<br />intervensi/pengendalian.<br />Kata Kunci: Malaria, Pengetahuan, Perilaku.</p>
