Middleton and W. Rowley “The Changeling” (1622). The paper identified the key scenes of the drama to help understand the multidimensional and allusive way of the protagonist.The author identifies a number of metamorphoses in the character of Beatrice-Joanna and analyzes the stages of the heroine’s moral decay in the context of her relationships with the other characters of the play. The author also provides the examples of using literary device of the deception of audience’s expectations. There are some chosen scenes from the text of the drama in the article, which are helping to uncover the motifs of duality and changeling, associated with the character of the main heroine. The system of the characters of T.
