Early diagnostic marker for the conversion of asymptomatic to symptomatic visceral leishmaniasis

The study was carried out on 1104 people of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) endemic region to detect the suitable marker in asymptomatic individuals that illustrate as a marker for conversion in symptomatic VL subject. In this study, 46 individuals (asymptomatic) with rK39 strip test positive without an...

In this study, 46 individuals (asymptomatic) with rK39 strip test positive without any previous VL sign and symptoms were later found symptomatic. Hematological and immunological investigations illustrated the lower hemoglobin (g/dl) and increase in interleukin-10 (IL-10) respectively from normal range which would be the primary markers in the asymptomatic individuals that might convert to symptomatic VL.
