Description
Summary:Teaching training is a cornerstone to the quality of our educational systems at its different levels. One the one hand, teachers are immersed in uncertainty due to the constant management and methodological changes we need to face. On the other hand, certain aspects, such as our role as mediators in the teaching-learning processes or the emphasis on learning functionality and significance open a door to hope. We should, nevertheless, reflect on the model of citizen we want to promote. We should not just train our students in technical competences, but we also need to foster the social construction of values such as autonomy, responsibility and cooperation through the educational process. This makes it necessary for teachers to acquire new competences or improve the ones they already have. For all these reasons, this special issue offers readers different perspectives, making them carefully consider all these issues related to teacher training and their competences.
