A tragic life path, medical, scientific, pedagogical and public activity of the professor-hygienist Mykola Antonovych Kudrytskyi have been represented in the article. His contribution to the development of the Ukrainian hygienic science, creation of the new direction — hygiene in schools has been highlighted. A particular attention is paid to the beginning of his professional activity as a scientist in a small town of Petrykivka in the Katerynoslav province — nowadays Dnipropetrovshchyna-Sicheslavshchyna.
