Antihypertensive effects of ACE inhibitor perindopril: ASCOT-BLPA Study lessons
Antihypertensive effects of an ACE inhibitor perindopril were analyzed. In ASCOT-BPLA Study, blood pressure (BP) level for amlodipine ± perindopril treatment was lower than for atenolol ± bendroflumethiazide treatment (mean difference 2.7/1.9 mm Hg). Maximal BP difference was 5.9/2.4 mm Hg, by Month...

Summary: | Antihypertensive effects of an ACE inhibitor perindopril were analyzed. In ASCOT-BPLA Study, blood pressure (BP) level for amlodipine ± perindopril treatment was lower than for atenolol ± bendroflumethiazide treatment (mean difference 2.7/1.9 mm Hg). Maximal BP difference was 5.9/2.4 mm Hg, by Month 3 of the therapy. Results of large-scale studies, confirming perindopril high efficacy and safety in arterial hypertension patients, were presented. |
