Summary: | Introduction:The aim of this study was to determine the effect of eight weeks core stabilization training on postural control in subjects with chronic ankle instability.Material and Methods:Thirty three male students were enrolled using convenience sampling method. The samples consisted of subjects with (n=22) and without (n=11) chronic ankle instability. From the subjects with chronic ankle instability, 11 were selected as the control group. Core stabilization training was performed for eight weeks for the study groups. Y balance test was used for evaluation of the subjects' postural control. Results:Repeated measure ANOVA revealed that there was a significant difference between healthy group and those with chronic ankle instability after core stabilization training (P ≤ 0.05).Conclusion:Core stabilization muscle training has an important role in controlling proximal and distal joints for postural control. It is suggested that for the treatment of ankle sprain, core stabilization training is considered besides leg muscles exercises. |
