The economic benefits derived from the diversity of livelihoods are a reason for them to preserve their environment — the research gap in this paper aimed at sustainable tourism in the tourism management community group. Design research used to explain how community understanding in sustainable tourism management is descriptive qualitative. The survey was carried out in three villages supporting the Baluran National Park. In total, there were 53 data collected by interview. The analysis shows that sustainable tourism based on reasons for a sense of ownership of the surrounding environment. This knowledge generates the economic benefits they get from providing tourist services. Changes in managerial patterns for the management of Baluran National Park, in the form of service restrictions, provide opportunities for the community to be involved in tourism activities. In this case, support from the government can be a catalyst for tourism development.
