As hadiths have a divine aspect, news about the Prophet has been analyzed. Accordingly, attempts were made to fabricate fake news about him. Muhaddithun, by developing practices such as isnad, ilm al-ri jal and jarh-ta’dil to prevent these activities, uncovered those who invent false news and gathered fake reports. In modern era, with the technological developments, fake news has gained speed. Fake news producers, with the advantage of computer-aided applications such as bots and cyborgs have emerged, and disinformation has emerged in economic, social, psychological and especially political area. Nevertheless, the thought of taking a series of preventive measures has led to the establishment of verification/confirmation platforms by civil initiatives. In this article, a relationship is established be tween the methods of the classical hadith methodology and the principles of contemporary verifica tion platforms, and the common points, differences and working principles of both are examined.
