Description
Summary:Kiro Petrov (1835-1876) , known as Bacho Kiro, was not only a revolutionary and a fighter for national freedom, but also a popular teacher and artist who left behind an extensive oeuvre of literary and historical works, and various other writings. Petrov was an active participant in the April Uprising against the Ottomans, and after the failure of the uprising, along with other rebels, was hanged in Tarnovo on the 28 of May 1876. His writings, which comprise several thousand pages, are mostly unpublished and kept in the archives of Bulgaria. In one of his preserved manuscript, kept in the National Archives in Veliko Tarnovo, there is a description of Serbia. This text mainly describes the administrative division of Serbia in the second half of the nineteenth century. Through Petrov's writings are reflected the complex Serbo-Bulgarian relations, which began at the time.
