Summary:At the end of seventies were emitted, the Law of Human Settlements and the National Plan of Urban Development which represent the Mexican Urban Policy. For the first time was established the demarcation of territorial reserves for the future expansion of each urban settlement in the country. This paper analyzes the growth tendency of a small city in an oil producing region of the State of Tabasco; a methodological guide was prepared in order to determinates it´s territorial reserves and future urban growth until year 2000, subdivided in five year periods.
