Description
Summary:International migrations during the two decades following the fall of Ceausescu’s regime saw evolutions in their legal context, their forms, their destinations and motivations. Political changes of the year 1989, the hardening of European migratory policies in the 90’s, the partial opening of the Schengen area to Romanians in 2002, the entry of Romania in the European Union in 2007 have defined the different stages of these migrations. The text highlights the main outlines of these migrations before making the assessment about their consequences for Romania and its people.
