Characterization of the rooting capacity of hybrid Eucalyptus clones of INTA Enraizamiento de clones híbridos de Eucalyptus

Eucalypt hybrids clones generation from selected parents adapted to the Mesopotamian region will allow to extend the forest frontiers as well as the supply of wood products. A hybrid is operationally useful only if its cloning is feasible; for this reason, the objective of this work was to character...

A hybrid is operationally useful only if its cloning is feasible; for this reason, the objective of this work was to characterize rooting ability of the hybrids clones of E. grandis x E. tereticornis and E. grandis x E. camaldulensis by the apical minicuttings with Indolbutyric acid (IBA) technique. Rooting percentage was evaluated in 6 apical minicuttings of hybrid clones of Eucaliptus at 50 days from induction. The experiment was performed with a completely randomized design with 3 repetitions. GC-INTA-9 clone showed a significant rooting superiority (84±19.75 %), while GC-INTA-12 and GC-INTA-27 presented similar values to each other, with 59±3,47 and 58±6,56 rooting percentage respectively. On the other hand, the clone GT-INTA 31 of the hybrid E. grandis x E. tereticornis showed the best performance with a 68±8.56% of rooting against GT-INTA 44 which has 43±16.81%. Finally, GT-INTA 37 with 8±10.37% has demonstrated the lowest capacity of rooting among interspecific hybrids studied. These results demonstrate that there is a wide variation in rooting ability and/or survival associated with the genotype of the clones used.https://revistas.unicordoba.edu.co/index.php/temasagrarios/article/view/2214/2735eucalyptusclonal microcuttingrhizogenesisnursery
