Th is synthesis was supposed to be embodied in new mythology, expressed in German philosophy and literary culture. Th is new mythology was an expression of reason and emotion, the essence of historical powers. A philosopher, unveiling historical necessities and regularities, discovered an absolute, giving to human actions a meaning of freedom. In consequence a man obtains self-knowledge of his freedom. In new mythology spontaneity and sensitivity go in concert with reason.
